GEORGIA — A woman was hospitalized following an officer-involved shooting Saturday night in Rockdale County, according to the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 7:50 p.m. to a disturbance call on Sugar Creek Lane. When they arrived, authorities said they encountered a woman described as “hostile.”
According to officials, the woman was armed with a knife and ran toward deputies, prompting at least one deputy to open fire.
The woman was struck and transported to a hospital. Authorities have not released her identity or provided an update on her condition.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in to investigate the incident, as is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.
