GEORGIA — A multi-agency drug investigation has led to the arrest of 20 people accused of operating a drug trafficking network across metro Atlanta and middle Georgia, according to authorities.
The Spalding County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation, conducted alongside the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and several local agencies, uncovered an organization allegedly led by Brandon “Twin” Williams and Gregory “Chuck” Dodson.
Investigators said the group supplied methamphetamine, fentanyl and other illegal drugs throughout Spalding, Fayette and surrounding counties. Authorities also believe the organization may be linked to fentanyl overdose deaths in Spalding County.
Officials said Williams and Dodson, both 35 and from Clayton County, used homes in DeKalb and Clayton counties to distribute large quantities of drugs to traffickers, who then redistributed them across the region.
During the investigation, agents executed more than 30 search warrants. Authorities said they seized more than 20 pounds of methamphetamine, along with fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana, prescription pills and multiple firearms.
Williams and Dodson are facing charges including violations of Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, unlawful use of telecommunications and conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine.
Additional suspects are facing a range of charges, including trafficking methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute and firearm-related offenses.
“Williams and Dodson thought they were untouchable because they distanced themselves from where they lived,” said Spalding County Sheriff Darrell Dix. “With the strong relationships between our law enforcement partners, we have some pretty long arms.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
