INDIANA — More than 20 people have been arrested as part of a coordinated narcotics enforcement operation in Johnson County, according to authorities.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said the roundup took place early Wednesday, April 15, in partnership with the Franklin Police Department. The operation targeted individuals accused of selling illegal drugs to undercover narcotics detectives.

Officials said the investigation began several months ago. On Wednesday, law enforcement served 31 drug-related warrants, with 16 executed by the sheriff’s office and 15 by Franklin police. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office also assisted by serving nine additional warrants, with four individuals already in custody as of midday.

In total, authorities reported that 22 people had been arrested by Wednesday afternoon.

Law enforcement agencies said the effort is part of an ongoing push to combat drug activity in the area.

“Combating the drug epidemic is an everyday challenge for law enforcement agencies,” a sheriff’s office spokesperson said. “The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and the Franklin Police Department have worked together for several years to address this issue in Johnson County.”

Johnson County Sheriff Duane Burgess said the operation demonstrates a continued commitment to identifying and arresting those involved in drug dealing.

Franklin Police Chief Kirby Cochran also emphasized the importance of cooperation between agencies, saying coordinated enforcement efforts help keep illegal drugs out of local communities.

Officials have not yet released the names of those arrested or specific charges they may face. The investigation remains ongoing.
