SOUTH CAROLINA — Authorities are investigating after human remains were discovered Monday afternoon in a wooded area behind a motel in Florence County.
According to Florence County Sheriff TJ Joye, a passerby found the remains behind a motel located off West Lucas Street.
Officials said the sheriff’s office is working with Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken to determine the identity of the remains.
An autopsy is expected to be conducted to help establish both the identity of the individual and the cause of death.
No additional details have been released at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing.
