
MICHIGAN — A suspect is in custody after police say a driver intentionally struck two pedestrians with a vehicle Sunday evening in Fremont.
According to the Fremont Police Department, officers responded around 6:30 p.m. to a reported crash at the intersection of East Dayton Street and North Stewart Avenue. When officers arrived, they found two people who had been hit by a vehicle.
A preliminary investigation determined the driver and the pedestrians knew each other. Police said the incident followed a verbal altercation prior to the crash.
Authorities believe the driver intentionally aimed the vehicle at the victims, struck them, and then fled the scene southbound on Stewart Avenue.
The suspect was taken into custody shortly after the incident, and police said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
