FLORIDA — A traffic stop in Hillsborough County led to a significant drug seizure and the arrest of a convicted felon, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. Friday along U.S. Highway 41 in Ruskin. Authorities attempted to stop a vehicle, but the driver continued for nearly a mile before pulling into a driveway on Ribbon Grass Loop.
The driver, identified as 35-year-old Deontay Voss, was taken into custody following the stop.
A search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 26 ounces of fentanyl, which authorities say is equivalent to more than 300,000 potentially lethal doses, along with more than 58 grams of methamphetamine and various items of drug paraphernalia.
Sheriff Chad Chronister said the seizure prevented dangerous drugs from reaching the community, adding that law enforcement remains committed to combating drug trafficking.
Voss was booked into jail on multiple charges, including trafficking in fentanyl, trafficking in amphetamines, possession of drug paraphernalia, fleeing law enforcement, and several counts of violation of probation related to prior burglary and battery charges.
The investigation remains ongoing.
