NORTH CAROLINA — Four people were arrested after a series of traffic stops led to the discovery of illegal drugs in Duplin County, according to the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said members of the Duplin Interstate Criminal Enforcement (DICE) Team conducted traffic stops on April 8 along Jackson Store Road and N.C. Highway 41 near Beulaville.

Deputies said the first stop on Jackson Store Road involved Cynthia Miller of Trenton, Christopher Alphin of Jacksonville and Quincy Melvin of Beulaville. A second stop on N.C. Highway 41 involved Angelo Arp of Bolton.

Investigators said illegal narcotics were found during both stops, and all four individuals were taken into custody.

Miller was charged with possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for controlled substances, possession of drug paraphernalia and being an absconder from probation.

Alphin was charged on outstanding felony warrants out of Onslow County and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Melvin was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Arp faces charges including possession of a firearm by a felon and felony obstruction of justice.

All four were booked into the Duplin County Jail. Sheriff Stratton Stokes praised the work of the DICE Team and said the investigation reflects ongoing efforts to curb illegal drug activity in the county.
