NORTH CAROLINA — Authorities are investigating after a decomposed body was discovered Friday evening in a wooded area in Iredell County, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said the body was found around 6:30 p.m. on April 10 off Turnersburg Highway in Statesville.
Officials said the body was in a decomposed state, but it remains unclear how it was discovered or how long it had been in the area.
Authorities have not released the identity of the individual.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the case as a death investigation.
