INDIANA — Two Kokomo men were arrested Wednesday after a routine traffic stop led to a drug bust in Tipton County, according to Indiana State Police.
Troopers said the stop occurred shortly after 10 p.m. on April 8 when a 2013 Chevrolet Captiva was pulled over on U.S. 31 near Division Road.
Police said a 40-year-old Kokomo man was driving the vehicle, while a 35-year-old Kokomo man was in the passenger seat.
A second trooper later arrived with a K-9 unit, and authorities said the dog alerted to the presence of possible narcotics, providing probable cause to search the vehicle.
During the search, troopers seized approximately 2.8 pounds of suspected methamphetamine. Investigators also reported finding suspected drug paraphernalia and suspected cocaine on the driver.
Both men were taken to the Tipton County Jail.
The 40-year-old driver faces a felony charge of possession of cocaine, a misdemeanor charge of possession of paraphernalia and an additional outstanding warrant out of Howard County.
The 35-year-old passenger faces preliminary felony charges of dealing and possession of methamphetamine.
The Tipton County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decisions.
