
TEXAS — One person is dead after a crash involving a pedestrian in southeast Austin early Friday morning, according to the Austin Police Department.
Police said the crash occurred around 6:28 a.m. in the 2100 block of the East Ben White Boulevard service road on the eastbound side near Woodward Street.
Officers arriving at the scene began CPR efforts shortly before 7 a.m., but the pedestrian was later pronounced dead. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.
As a result of the crash, the eastbound frontage road of Ben White Boulevard near Woodward Street was closed. Traffic is being redirected northbound onto Woodward Street, while the main freeway lanes remain open.
Drivers are being asked to avoid the area and plan alternate routes.
The incident remains under investigation. Police say additional information will be released as it becomes available.
