GEORGIA — A 57-year-old Byron man was killed in a crash involving a pickup truck and a semi-truck early Friday morning along Interstate 75 in Macon-Bibb, according to the Bibb County Coroner’s Office.
Coroner Leon Jones identified the victim as Mark Polk. Authorities said the crash occurred on I-75 south near Sardis Church Road.
Polk, who was driving the pickup truck, was pronounced dead at 1:33 a.m. by Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley.
Photos from the scene show the pickup truck sustained heavy damage in the crash. Details about how the crash occurred were not immediately released.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has been contacted for additional information, but no further details were available as of Friday morning.
The crash remains under investigation. Officials say updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
