TEXAS — Two men are fighting for their lives following a shooting inside a nightclub in Houston late Wednesday night, according to police.
Authorities said the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. inside the Confessions nightclub on Kirby Drive.
Investigators with the Houston Police Department said the violence began as an attempted robbery when two men tried to rip chains from another man’s neck. Police said the suspects took the victim to the ground and were able to steal the chains.
Officials reported that the situation quickly escalated as several other individuals joined in, turning the confrontation into a large fight. During the chaos, the victim reportedly pulled out a gun and opened fire, striking two men multiple times.
One victim, believed to be in his late 20s, was shot several times in the torso. Another, in his mid-20s, was shot in the arms and legs and was later found in a nearby parking garage after attempting to flee.
Both victims were transported to a hospital and remain in critical condition.
Authorities said it is still unclear whether the two men who were shot were involved in the initial robbery attempt.
The suspected shooter fled the scene and has not been located. Police believe the suspect may have been injured during the altercation and are checking with area hospitals.
