OHIO — Several school districts across Ohio will be closed on Thursday, April 9, 2026, as part of their scheduled spring break.
Among the districts confirmed to be closed that day are Fairland Local Schools, Westfall Local Schools, Chesapeake Union Exempted Village Schools, and Strongsville Academy. Each of these districts has spring break scheduled for the week of April 6 through April 10, meaning students and staff will be off for the entire week, including Thursday.
School calendars indicate that this later spring break schedule is one of two common patterns across the state. While many Ohio districts observed spring break earlier, typically from March 30 through April 3, others opted for the following week in April.
As a result, while a majority of schools statewide are expected to be in session on April 9, a notable number of districts—primarily those following the April 6–10 schedule—will remain closed.
Classes for the districts observing the later break are generally set to resume on Monday, April 13, 2026, following the conclusion of spring recess.
