OHIO — Two people were injured following a three-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in Dayton, according to authorities.

Officials with Montgomery County Regional Dispatch said crews were called at approximately 2:48 p.m. to the intersection of Salem and Wabash avenues.

Authorities initially reported that four vehicles were involved in the crash. However, Dayton Police Department Sgt. Creigee S. Coleman later confirmed the crash involved three vehicles.

Investigators said one driver is believed to have struck another vehicle, while a separate vehicle traveled left of center and collided with an oncoming vehicle.

Two people were transported from the scene to local hospitals for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been released.

Police said the crash is believed to have been caused by excessive speed. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.

The investigation remains ongoing.
