GEORGIA — A 50-year-old man has died after being shot during an argument that led to a police investigation along Interstate 285 early Tuesday morning.

According to authorities, the victim has been identified by the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office as Tywarn Jones.

Police said officers responded around 3:06 a.m. to a call for help on I-285, just past the Glenwood Road exit and before the Interstate 20 split. Investigators later determined the shooting occurred on nearby Marbut Road during an argument between individuals who knew each other.

Officials said a witness transported Jones from the scene to I-285 and called for assistance.

During the investigation, police blocked off the left lanes of I-285, causing traffic disruptions for several hours. The lanes were reopened around 6:30 a.m.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. No additional information about a suspect has been released.
