
PENNSYLVANIA — A man has died following a police-involved shooting Tuesday morning in West Philadelphia, according to authorities.
Police said the incident occurred just after 7 a.m. in the 5400 block of Webster Street.
According to Frank Vanore, officers responded to a report of a man with a weapon at that location. When officers arrived, one officer approached a man, believed to be about 75 years old, on a front porch.
Authorities said a confrontation occurred, during which the man reportedly fired a weapon and the officer returned fire.
The man was struck and transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 7:33 a.m.
Officials said no officers or other individuals were injured. A firearm was recovered at the scene, and police confirmed the officer’s body camera was activated during the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
