TEXAS — A pedestrian was killed early Tuesday morning after being struck on Interstate 45, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 3 a.m. to reports of a person hit on the southbound lanes of Interstate 45 near FM 1960. When authorities arrived, they found the victim deceased at the scene.
Investigators said the person may have been struck by multiple vehicles. The identity of the victim has not yet been determined, and officials said they do not currently know the person’s gender.
Authorities are working to determine the circumstances of the incident, including whether the individual was walking along the roadway or attempting to cross the freeway at the time.
Officials noted the area has seen similar incidents in the past involving pedestrians crossing the freeway, though they emphasized there is no confirmation about the victim’s identity or situation.
The southbound lanes of I-45 were closed for several hours as investigators processed the scene. The roadway has since reopened.
