OHIO — One person was killed and three others were injured in a head-on crash Monday afternoon in Tuscarawas County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash occurred around 1:13 p.m. on April 6 along Stonecreek Road (County Road 21), just north of Circle Drive in York Township.

Investigators determined a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis traveling southbound crossed left of center and collided head-on with a northbound 2012 Toyota Highlander. After the impact, the Highlander went off the right side of the roadway and struck a guardrail.

The driver of the Mercury, identified as 24-year-old Dalton J. Miller of West Lafayette, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office.

A passenger in the Mercury was transported to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital with injuries. The driver of the Toyota was taken to Cleveland Clinic Akron General for treatment. A 2-year-old passenger in the Toyota was treated at the scene and later released to a family member.

Authorities said both occupants of the Mercury were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office, New Philadelphia Fire Department, York Township Fire Department, the Tuscarawas County Coroner’s Office, Smith Ambulance and local towing and road crews.

The crash remains under investigation.
