LOUISIANA — A 30-year-old Elton man has died following a single-vehicle crash in Jeff Davis Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.
Troopers identified the victim as Joseph Poncho.
Authorities said the crash occurred just before 4 a.m. on April 5 along La. 395 (Raymond Highway) near Tupper Road. For reasons still under investigation, Poncho was traveling north when his vehicle veered left across the center line, left the roadway, and struck a culvert.
Poncho, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
State police said routine toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis.
The crash remains under investigation.
