
OHIO — A Newark resident has claimed a $100,000 prize from an Ohio Lottery scratch-off game, according to the Ohio Lottery.
Jay M. of Newark won the prize after playing the $2,000,000 Cashword scratch-off. After state and federal taxes totaling 26.75%, he will receive approximately $73,250.
Lottery officials said the winning ticket was purchased at Sheetz #781, located at 750 Hebron Road in Heath.
The $2,000,000 Cashword is a $30 scratch-off game with overall odds of winning at 1 in 3.37. As of April 6, 2026, three top prizes of $80,000 per year for 25 years remain available.
Since 1974, the Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $34 billion to education across the state.
