
TEXAS — A man is facing charges after allegedly leading deputies on a high-speed motorcycle chase through Tyler, according to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said Chase Lindsey, 23, is charged with evading arrest and possession of a controlled substance following the incident, which occurred late Friday night.
According to officials, the chase began shortly after 11 p.m. on Troup Highway near Shiloh Road. Investigators said Lindsey ran a red light at the intersection of Shiloh Road and Paluxy Drive and accelerated in an attempt to flee from a deputy.
Authorities said the motorcycle reached speeds of about 90 mph while traveling westbound on Shiloh Road.
The pursuit ended near Rice Road and Plantation Drive when Lindsey lost control of the motorcycle and crashed.
Officials said Lindsey suffered road rash and was taken to a hospital for treatment before being booked into jail. He was later released after posting bonds totaling $15,000.
According to an arrest affidavit, deputies found a THC vape inside Lindsey’s backpack following the crash.
The case remains under investigation.
