KENTUCKY — A 16-year-old boy was killed and three others were injured in a crash late Sunday night in northern Kentucky, according to authorities.
The crash happened around 10:34 p.m. on Bullittsville Road in Hebron, where Boone County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene.
Investigators said a 17-year-old was driving a 2015 Honda Accord when the vehicle entered a sharp right-hand curve, crossed left of center, then overcorrected and veered off the right side of the roadway. The car struck multiple trees and overturned.
Police said the front seat passenger was ejected during the crash and became trapped underneath the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was identified as Zachary Snyder, 16, of Burlington.
The driver and two backseat passengers — a 17-year-old male from Burlington and an 18-year-old female from Hebron — were able to exit the vehicle and were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Preliminary findings indicate speed was a contributing factor in the crash, and authorities said neither the driver nor the victim was wearing a seatbelt.
Bullittsville Road was closed for several hours while crews investigated and was reopened around 3 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team.
