
FLORIDA — A woman is dead and a man was injured following a crash early Monday morning in Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the crash occurred at the intersection of Edgewood Avenue North and Shenandoah Avenue on the city’s Westside.
Investigators said a woman in her mid-40s was driving near the 3000 block of Edgewood Avenue North around 5:50 a.m. when her vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a JEA power pole.
Officials said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man in his early 40s, who was also inside the vehicle, was transported to a hospital with injuries. Authorities said he is in stable condition.
Police said no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and officials said the roadway was expected to remain closed for several hours.
