VIRGINIA — Two people were hospitalized following a crash early Sunday morning in Bedford County, according to firefighters.

The Forest Fire Department said crews were dispatched shortly before 3 a.m. to East Lynchburg Salem Turnpike near a Dollar General for a reported motor vehicle crash with entrapment.

When crews arrived, they found an SUV overturned with one person trapped inside.

First responders worked to remove the driver’s side and rear doors in order to reach the individual. Once freed, the person was turned over to medical personnel for treatment.

Authorities said both individuals involved in the crash were transported to Lynchburg General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash has not been released.
