PENNSYLVANIA — A 70-year-old man has died following a two-vehicle crash involving a teenage driver in Union County, according to state police.
The crash occurred Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Route 15 and Loan Road in Kelly Township.
Investigators said a pickup truck driven by a 16-year-old was traveling north when it failed to slow for a red light and struck a vehicle ahead that was already slowing to stop.
Authorities said the second vehicle, driven by Richard Marion, 70, of Watsontown, was pushed off the roadway by the impact.
Marion was transported to Geisinger Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
A passenger in the vehicle, identified as 69-year-old Valerie Marion, was also taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Police said the teenage driver suffered minor injuries and was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Investigators are also looking into speed as a possible contributing factor.
Emergency crews from multiple agencies responded to the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
