FLORIDA — A 34-year-old man from Dunnellon is dead after a motorcycle crash Saturday evening in Marion County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 7:40 p.m. on State Road 40, west of Southwest 185th Avenue Road.
Investigators said the motorcyclist was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when he struck the rear of a pickup truck driven by a 17-year-old from Ocala.
After the impact, authorities said the motorcycle overturned several times, ejecting the rider.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, according to troopers.
Officials said the teen driver was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
Authorities also noted the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
