Multiple schools in Virginia to close next week

0

VIRGINIA — A review of school district calendars across Virginia shows that a limited number of schools will be closed at some point during the week of April 6 through April 10, 2026, though most districts have already completed their spring break.

Among the districts with closures next week:

  • Fairfax County Public Schools lists April 6 as a student holiday/teacher workday and April 10 as a student holiday for school planning, meaning students do not attend on both days.
  • Prince William County Public Schools also shows April 6 as a teacher workday with no school for students following spring break.
  • Patrick County Public Schools has one of the more extended schedules, with spring break continuing April 7–10 and April 6 listed as a holiday, resulting in a full week without classes.
  • Wythe County Public Schools lists spring break continuing into the week, including April 7, indicating at least partial closures during that timeframe.

Most other Virginia districts, including large systems in Northern Virginia and the Richmond area, held spring break earlier from March 30 through April 3, with students returning to class by April 6.

Overall, while Virginia does not have a widespread spring break during April 6–10, several districts will have isolated closures or extended breaks during that week, primarily due to teacher workdays, planning days, or delayed spring break schedules.
