Multiple schools in Ohio to close next week

OHIO — Several school districts across Ohio will be closed at some point during the week of April 6 through April 10, 2026, as spring break schedules continue across the state.

District calendars show that a number of schools have their full spring break scheduled for that week. Among them, Columbia Local School District and Chesapeake Union Exempted Village Schools will be closed for the entire week, with no classes held from Monday, April 6, through Friday, April 10.

Other districts have schedules that partially overlap with the week. In some cases, students may return to class midweek after an earlier spring break, while others may have isolated days off tied to previously scheduled academic calendar breaks or staff development days.

At the same time, many districts across Ohio will remain in session throughout the week. Several schools completed their spring break in March or during the final days of March and early April, resulting in students returning to classrooms by April 6.

The staggered timing reflects Ohio’s decentralized school system, where individual districts set their own academic calendars. As a result, spring break periods vary widely from one district to another, often spanning several weeks statewide rather than a single uniform break.

In addition to spring break closures, many districts observed Good Friday on April 3, just prior to the week in question, contributing to a broader stretch of days off for some students.

Parents and students are advised to check directly with their local district for the most accurate and up-to-date scheduling information, as calendars can differ significantly even between neighboring communities.
