
FLORIDA — A Pensacola man was arrested early Friday morning after he allegedly led troopers on a chase through the city, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
According to a news release, a trooper was patrolling the area of North Blue Angel Parkway just before 1 a.m. April 3 when he observed a vehicle displaying a Florida tag that did not match the vehicle.
Authorities said the trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop and fled.
During the pursuit, the SUV left the roadway and crashed into a fence near the intersection of Patricia Drive and Oakcliff Road. Officials said no injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
The driver was identified as 46-year-old Marvin Thomas of Pensacola. He was arrested and charged with felony fleeing and driving with a suspended driver’s license. Authorities said Thomas also had outstanding warrants out of Escambia County.
Thomas was transported to the Escambia County Jail, where he remains.
The incident remains under investigation.
