Thousands without power in Indiana

INDIANA — Thousands of customers across Indiana are without electricity Friday morning as scattered outages were reported statewide, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

As of the latest update, approximately 2,025 homes and businesses are without power, representing about 0.06% of the more than 3.2 million customers tracked across the state.

The largest concentration of outages was reported in Allen County, where 1,119 customers were without electricity. Parke County reported 312 outages, while Kosciusko County had 161 customers affected.

Additional outages were reported in St. Joseph County, Vigo County, Lake County, LaPorte County and Marshall County.

Utility providers reporting the most outages included Indiana Michigan Power with 1,163 customers affected, followed by Northern Indiana Public Service Company with 347 outages.

Indiana ranks among the states with the highest number of outages nationwide, though the overall percentage of customers affected remains relatively low.

Utility crews are working to restore service, and no estimated restoration times were immediately available. Residents are encouraged to report outages to their provider and avoid downed power lines.
