Thousands without power in Ohio

OHIO — Thousands of customers across Ohio are without electricity Friday morning as outages were reported statewide, according to data from PowerOutage.us.

As of the latest update, approximately 5,574 homes and businesses are without power, representing about 0.1% of the more than 5.4 million customers tracked across the state.

The highest number of outages was reported in Portage County, where 2,508 customers were without power. Cuyahoga County reported 1,398 outages, while Summit County had 1,038 customers without electricity.

Additional outages were reported in Richland County with 208 customers affected, as well as smaller numbers in Lake County, Medina County, Geauga County and Stark County.

Utility providers reporting the largest number of outages included FirstEnergy with 4,299 customers affected, followed by Cleveland Public Power with 886 outages.

Statewide, Ohio ranks among the states with the highest number of outages nationwide, according to outage tracking data.

Utility crews are working to restore service, though no estimated restoration times were immediately available. Residents are encouraged to report outages to their local provider and avoid downed power lines.
