
MICHIGAN — Thousands of residents across Michigan are without electricity Friday morning as scattered outages impacted communities statewide, according to data from PowerOutage.us.
As of the latest update, approximately 7,409 customers are without power across the state, representing about 0.15% of the more than 5 million customers tracked.
The heaviest impacts were reported in northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.
Menominee County reported the highest number of outages, with 1,736 customers affected, accounting for roughly 10.9% of tracked customers in the county. Mackinac County reported 1,008 outages, while Chippewa County had 821 customers without power. Emmet County also saw significant outages, with 674 customers affected.
In more populated areas, Wayne County reported 517 outages, while Livingston County had 451.
Utility providers with the largest number of outages included Cloverland Electric Cooperative with 1,886 customers affected, followed by We Energies with 1,670 outages. DTE Energy and Consumers Energy also reported hundreds of customers without power.
Michigan currently ranks among the states with the highest number of outages nationwide, officials said.
Crews are working to restore service, though no estimated restoration times were immediately available. Residents are encouraged to report outages to their utility providers and use caution around downed power lines.
