FLORIDA — An Okaloosa County man who allegedly held his ex-girlfriend hostage in her home has been found dead, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the 47-year-old man had outstanding arrest warrants for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief related to a March 27 incident involving the same woman.

According to investigators, the woman reported that during the March 27 incident, the man rammed her vehicle with his truck in a store parking lot along Highway 90 in Holt.

Authorities said deputies were called around 8 a.m. Thursday to the woman’s mobile home on Cooper Street in Holt after learning the man had entered the residence armed with a weapon the night before and was holding her against her will.

Officials said the woman was able to escape the home and contact law enforcement.

Deputies reported that when they arrived, the man refused to come out of the residence. A short time later, deputies heard a loud pop inside the home.

Authorities said additional resources were called to the scene, and after attempts to contact the man were unsuccessful, deputies entered the home and found him dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

No other injuries were reported.

The investigation remains ongoing.
