TENNESSEE — A Wilson County middle school was placed on a “soft lockdown” Thursday after another threatening call was made to police, according to officials.
West Wilson Middle School was the subject of a threat after Mt. Juliet Police Department received a phone call Thursday morning threatening mass violence at the school.
Principal Josh Johnston notified parents that the campus would remain on soft lockdown throughout the day as a precaution. Additional law enforcement presence from the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office and Mt. Juliet Police Department was also assigned to the school.
“We, along with all local law enforcement, take these situations very seriously – always,” Johnston said in a message to parents.
Authorities said they are working to identify the person or persons responsible for the threat.
The incident follows a similar threat reported Tuesday night involving the same school.
Officials are urging anyone with information to contact law enforcement and not share details on social media.
The situation remains under investigation.
