18 people arrested following drug bust in Indiana

INDIANA — Eighteen people were arrested after a drug bust at a home on the city’s north side Wednesday morning, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers and detectives served a search warrant around 9:15 a.m. at a residence in the 3700 block of North Capitol Avenue, near 38th Street. Police said the warrant stemmed from multiple tips received earlier this year regarding suspected ongoing narcotics activity at the home.

Investigators said they used various investigative techniques to gather evidence before obtaining the warrant. The operation involved IMPD’s North District Violence Reduction Team, Violent Crimes Task Force, SWAT and officers from multiple districts.

As a result of the search, 18 individuals were taken into custody on a range of preliminary charges, including possession of a narcotic drug, dealing cocaine, unlawful possession of a firearm and visiting a common nuisance.

Police said numerous drugs and drug paraphernalia were recovered throughout the home and from several of those arrested. At least two firearms were also seized during the investigation.

Authorities credited community members for providing information that helped lead to the arrests.

Formal charges will be determined by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.

The investigation remains ongoing.
