FLORIDA — Thousands of customers across Florida are without electricity Thursday morning, according to the latest data from PowerOutage.us.

As of the most recent update, approximately 2,711 homes and businesses are without power statewide. That represents about 0.02% of the more than 10.9 million customers tracked across the state.

Okeechobee County is reporting the highest number of outages, with 1,261 customers affected, accounting for more than 5% of its customers. Other counties with reported outages include Miami-Dade with 255, Palm Beach with 207, Broward with 200, and Alachua County with 131. Smaller outages have also been reported in Volusia, Pinellas and Brevard counties.

By utility provider, Glades Electric Cooperative reports the highest number of customers without power at 1,262, followed by Florida Power & Light Company with 1,048 outages. Duke Energy and other providers report smaller numbers of outages.

Despite the relatively low percentage of customers affected, Florida currently ranks among the top 10 states nationwide for total outages.

Restoration efforts are ongoing as utility crews work to restore service.
