
FLORIDA — A 4-year-old girl was killed after being struck by a vehicle in a driveway in Apopka on Wednesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said an SUV was parked in a private driveway when the driver, a 37-year-old Apopka woman, began to pull forward.
Investigators said the driver was unaware the child was standing near the vehicle’s right rear passenger door. As the SUV moved forward, the child fell and was struck.
The child was taken to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Authorities said the driver was not injured and remained at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
