VIRGINIA — A man has been arrested and charged after allegedly making online threats against Jefferson Forest High School, according to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said deputies were alerted around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday after a South Carolina resident reported seeing a disturbing comment on YouTube referencing threats toward students at the school on April 1.
Following an investigation, officials identified the suspect as 42-year-old Brian Scott Barlow of Lynchburg.
Barlow was taken into custody and transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail. He is charged with a Class 6 felony for making threats by electronic communication to kill or discharge a firearm on school property. Authorities said he is being held without bond.
Officials also said school administrators were notified, and there is no active threat to students at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing.
