IOWA — Police in Des Moines are searching for a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred March 22 on the city’s northeast side.

According to the Des Moines Police Department, officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 3600 block of Kennedy Drive. When officers arrived, they found Daniel Lott Sr., 45, inside an apartment suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts, Lott was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute between Lott and someone he knew. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

On Wednesday, police identified the suspect as 28-year-old Davian Lindsey. Authorities said an arrest warrant has been issued charging Lindsey with first-degree murder.

Police believe Lindsey has fled the Des Moines area. He is described as approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing around 175 pounds, and having multiple tattoos on both arms.

Officials are urging the public not to approach Lindsey, warning that he is believed to be armed.

Anyone with information about Lindsey’s whereabouts is asked to call 911. Tips can also be submitted through the Des Moines Police Department app or through Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa.
