KANSAS — A Missouri man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 35 in Kansas City, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Authorities said the crash happened around 12:05 p.m. near 7th Street when a 2012 Mazda 5 traveling northbound went off the roadway to the right, down an embankment and struck a tree.
Officials identified the driver as 78-year-old Geerald Stagg of Chillicothe. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers said Stagg was the only occupant of the vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
