TEXAS — A San Antonio man wanted on multiple drug-related warrants was arrested Tuesday after leading deputies on a vehicle pursuit that ended in a crash on the city’s west side, according to the Nueces County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office.

Authorities said deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop shortly before noon near Morgan Avenue and Baldwin Boulevard. The driver of a white Dodge Durango failed to stop and fled, prompting a pursuit.

Officials identified the driver as Jose Luis Torres of San Antonio. Investigators said Torres lost control of the vehicle and crashed near the intersection of Reyna Street and Espinosa Street.

Torres was taken into custody at the scene.

Authorities said a nearby school was temporarily placed on lockdown as a precaution during the incident, but officials emphasized there was no danger to students or staff at any time.

Officials said Torres was wanted on a parole violation warrant related to dangerous drugs, as well as a separate Nueces County warrant. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries before being booked into the Nueces County Jail.

He is expected to face charges including felony evading, fleeing, failure to identify and the outstanding warrants. The incident remains under investigation.
