MICHIGAN — A 5-year-old boy has died after being found unresponsive in a stream early Tuesday morning, according to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said deputies responded to the 400 block of North Swan Street after receiving a report of a missing child. A search was launched, and the boy was later located in a stream between Palmer Lake and Sturgeon Lake.

Officials said deputies performed lifesaving measures at the scene before the child was transported to a hospital in Three Rivers, where he was pronounced dead.

The child’s name has not been released.

Multiple agencies assisted in the response, including the Michigan State Police and several local law enforcement and emergency services.

The incident remains under active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office.
