MICHIGAN — The northbound lanes of the Lodge Freeway were shut down Tuesday morning after a body was discovered along the roadway, according to the Michigan State Police.
Authorities said paramedics in a private ambulance found the body around 6 a.m. on the shoulder of the northbound lanes. Troopers responded to the scene and closed the freeway at 7 Mile Road as the investigation began.
The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office was called to assist.
In an update later in the morning, state police said they reviewed nearby surveillance video and determined the incident was a suicide.
Officials have not released the identity of the person. Authorities said they are working to notify the individual’s family.
The freeway remained closed for several hours as crews investigated, causing significant traffic backups in the area. The investigation remains ongoing.
