ARKANSAS — Authorities are investigating a double shooting that occurred Monday evening near Mountain Home, according to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said they were called to Bayhill Place around 8:05 p.m. after a neighbor reported a disturbance involving gunshots and yelling.

When deputies arrived, they found a man outside a residence suffering from a gunshot wound. He was given first aid at the scene and transported by ambulance to Baxter Health Hospital.

During the investigation, authorities learned a second man involved in the incident had also been shot. That man was taken to the hospital by a private vehicle.

Investigators said the two men exchanged gunfire, resulting in both being injured. One of the men is 50 years old, and the other is 21.

Both firearms were recovered at the scene and taken into evidence.

Officials said the incident stemmed from a dispute over a property boundary. The extent of the victims’ injuries has not been released.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the case will be forwarded to the prosecuting attorney for review of possible charges.
