ILLINOIS — A 25-year-old woman was injured Monday night after being struck by gunfire during a drive-by shooting in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood, according to the Chicago Police Department.
Police said the shooting happened around 9:27 p.m. near the intersection of East Chicago Avenue and North Michigan Avenue.
Investigators said the incident began when a 22-year-old man driving a red sedan was approached by a white sedan. Authorities said someone inside the white vehicle opened fire, striking the red car multiple times.
The driver of the red sedan was not injured. However, a 25-year-old woman who was walking nearby was struck in the thigh after being caught in the crossfire, police said.
The woman was taken to a hospital, where she was listed in fair condition.
