INDIANA — A woman was killed and a man was injured in a fiery crash early Saturday morning in Bristol, according to authorities.
Police said the crash happened around 12:45 a.m. at the intersection of Division and Vistula streets.
When officers arrived, they found a vehicle engulfed in flames off the roadway and wedged between a bridge and a concrete foundation.
An injured man who was found under the bridge told officers that a woman was still inside the vehicle. First responders were unable to rescue her due to the intensity of the fire.
After the flames were extinguished, the woman was found dead inside the vehicle.
Authorities have not released the identities of those involved. There is no word on the condition of the injured man.
The bridge was temporarily closed while crews assessed visible damage from the crash. Officials later determined the structure was safe, and it has since reopened.
The crash remains under investigation.
