LOUISIANA — One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash Saturday evening in St. Tammany Parish, according to authorities.
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened around 8:30 p.m. near Oaklawn Drive and Pine Crest Drive in the Tchefuncta Club Estates neighborhood near Covington.
Investigators reported that an SUV left the roadway, entered a ditch, struck a tree stump, and caught fire.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the body has been turned over to the coroner’s office for identification.
Officials have not released additional details. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
