KENTUCKY — Authorities are searching for an armed suspect following a shooting Friday night in Madison County, according to officials.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded around 10 p.m. to reports of a shooting on Kentucky River Road.
Investigators said two victims were located at the scene. One person suffered a gunshot wound to the leg along with other injuries, while a second victim reported being threatened with a firearm during the incident.
Authorities have identified the suspect as Christopher Morphis, 38, of Lenoir City. Deputies said Morphis fled the scene in a van following the shooting.
According to officials, the vehicle was later found abandoned on Carver’s Ferry Road, where investigators believe the suspect fled on foot. Video footage reportedly showed a man running along Kentucky River Road early Saturday morning.
Deputies say Morphis should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call 911. The investigation remains ongoing.
