OHIO — A man with multiple felony warrants was arrested Friday in Dayton after fleeing from a traffic stop, according to authorities.

The Dayton Police Department said the arrest happened during a Violent Crime Reduction Operation conducted with assistance from the Ohio State Highway Patrol aviation unit.

Police said officers attempted to stop a vehicle, but the driver fled the scene. The vehicle was tracked by aviation, and after stopping, the driver and another person ran behind a location on Rustic Road.

A 31-year-old man was later apprehended and taken into custody.

Officials said the man had a loaded handgun and more than $18,000 in cash in his possession. Police also reported that he is a convicted felon who is prohibited from possessing a firearm and had seven active felony warrants at the time of his arrest.

The suspect was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and is facing multiple charges.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.
