FLORIDA — A domestic-related stabbing that began late Friday night in Deerfield Beach led to a police pursuit and the arrest of a man in Pompano Beach, authorities said.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a report of a stabbing around 11:30 p.m. Friday in the 4700 block of Northeast First Terrace in Deerfield Beach. When deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue arrived, they found a woman suffering from stab wounds. She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Investigators said the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Eric Senat, who lives with the victim, had left the scene before deputies arrived.
Around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, deputies located the suspect’s vehicle near East Copans Road and North Dixie Highway in Pompano Beach. When a deputy attempted a traffic stop, authorities said the driver refused to stop and continued a short distance before crashing into a fence.
The suspect then fled the vehicle on foot but was taken into custody nearby, deputies said.
Inside the vehicle, authorities found a teenage girl suffering from stab wounds. She was transported to a hospital along with Senat, who was also being treated for injuries.
Senat was arrested in connection with the incident. Authorities said the case remains under investigation by the Broward Sheriff’s Office Special Victims and Crime Scene units. The Florida Department of Children and Families has also been notified.
